Stuff Lately // 6.4.13

Howdy!

 photo securedownload523_zpsc5a6db86.jpg

To not dwell on my absence, let's just dive right in! Here's what I've been doing since I've been away.

WatchingArrested Development NONSTOP! A few Hitchcocks here and there (Cary Grant just kills me), with Treasure of the Sierra Madre mixed in, too.  Also, Hangover 3 and a few other newer releases.

ReadingRomeo and Juliet (school), In Cold Blood (school/pleasure) by Truman Capote (aced the anaylisis too! Perhaps the movie, now..), Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. I've got so much reading to do this summer!

Eating: Everything microwavable. Oh, summer, with your unregulated lunches! You're a doozy!

Doing: Exploring music, sleeping, rediscovering Omegle (OH LAWD.), first concert without family member/got braces off/got car (all elaborated in upcoming posts), selling yearbook ads (phone anxiety has reared its ugly head once again), thrifting, flea marketing, DIY-ing, being so darn glad it's summer.

Listening: The Neighbourhood, Tegan & Sara, Alpine, Alt-J, The Head and the Heart, Matt & Kim, a lot of the usuals (Coldplay, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, etc.)

Buying: Aside from a mini-bundt pan and a small cactus, I haven't bought anything in a very long time, and I've just sort of been on a spending spree these past few days... Summer clothes, this hat, car stuff, this BEAUTIFUL, BEAUTIFUL blanket, booties (wanted these, bought these for $20! Eeee!), car stuff (!), but most importantly, THE ONLY PIECE OF CLOTHING I WILL OWN FOR MY ENTIRE LIFE.

Looking Forward to: Animal Crossing 3DS (JUNE 9th BABY!), Tennessee's first H&M (this Thursday!) Monsters University, California (apparently in July?!! What, family?!)

What've you been up to? See any good movies lately?

Stuff Lately :: Winter Break 2012 Edition!

   Hello!

I hope any holidays you celebrated this winter, or just this last month of 2012, was super happy and fun! My winter break flew by, yesterday was the last hurrah. The 11 (ridiculously small number...) days I was out were full of movies, eating, The Walking Dead, and sleeping in. Since I know you want to see pictures of those things (who wouldn't, amirite?), here are those things and some others!

  1) Our living room Christmas tree! This is where family presents go.
  2) New Year's Eve in Nashville. The Fray played!! It rained and was super chilly but they were fantastic, of course.
  3) Coldplay Live and some caramel popcorn dominated one evening, and some vintage Santa lights are too cute not to share. Oh, and watched Fast Times at Ridgemont High, which I'm pretty sure is my last classic high-school 80's movie to watch (at least, I think so.)
  4) My favorite cold-weather outfit! Dressed like a grandpa. Dressed to kill.
  5) Unhealthy food galore! Carrot cake pancakes, Panettone (disappointing!), apple pie, chili cheese tots (yes, I'm publicly saying I eat them, because this is a place of acceptance.)
6) Red Velvet Holiday Milk (had to try it), and Candy Cane Oreos.
7) Some gifts, including a Phrenology head and all those books! I tore through The Diviners by Libbra Bray in three days; I totally suggest it. Not pictured are some H&M dresses, some Threadless shirts, and this (!) ModCloth shirt.
In other news...
Watched all of The Walking Dead on Netflix Instant + marathon on AMC, now it's no wonder it's so popular!
Finally saw Vertigo! Nothing like a good Hitchcock.
I launched a little StoreEnvy store! I'm working out the kinks, so more on it later. :)

How'd you spend your holiday/break/time off? I hope it was glorious and full of food!

Stuff Lately :: 10.23.12

 Hey!

Because I have such a rockstar life, it's time for another installment!

Watching: Lawrence of Arabia, The Bourne Legacy, and The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Lawrence of Arabia was over fall break; I had never seen it before and bought the 50th Anniversary special re-release into theaters tickets before finding out it was four hours long. Sorry, mom. Then The Bourne Legacy was a few days ago at the $2-theater (it's a city over and plays movies post-theater, pre-DVD for $2 a ticket) and it BLEW MY MIND. I was less than stoked to see a Bourne movie without Matt Damon, but man, Jeremy Renner (and his abs) is something to behold. It was my favorite Bourne so far! (Even though I say that after seeing every Bourne for the first time...) Then I FINALLY saw The Perks! It's limited release so I was counting down the days 'till it came to town and I Fandango'd as soon as it did!

Reading: Carrie by Stephen King. If you remember, I have to read a banned book for English. Digging that menstrualful opening scene.

 Eating: Pumpkin pie Poptarts!!

Doing: Well, yesterday I got out of school early thuggin' for the Imagine Dragons mini-show (see below), but other than that, I've been taking it pretty easy these past few days. :)

Listening: to Imagine Dragons! I actually won tickets to see them at the Direct Auto Insurance Garage (I saw One Direction there too) on Friday, and the show was yesterday. They were so nice. So freaking nice you guys.

Buying: Fall candles. Still. I burnt through my Yankees, and now I have a wonderful Autumn Harvest soy candle from Target.

Top to bottom, left to right:
1) Downloaded iOS6! Burning through my battery all day urrday; 2) my LofA ticket 3) & 4) American Apparel had all their polos for 2 FREAKING DOLLARS online the other day, all in my size. PARTY PARTY 5) Granny booties from eBay!! Everyone has cheap-looking, fake-leather booties, so I got real leather ones for the same price! They're Danexx, btw, so if you're in the market for some good-priced good-quality booties, hit up eBay 6) Perks ticket 7) Pumpkin bread from Starbucks! 8) Hardees burger. It had BBQ on it you guys (Fun fact: my mom and I split it; I ate one half she ate the other; there was a massive blonde hair in her half) 9) My Pet Ghost! What a cute idea! 10) I won these boots!! 11) Cake Pops holla @ me 12) Hardees cup you know how I do.

I think I'll have an Imagine Dragons post up soon, so be on the lookout!

Stuff Lately // Early Fall

   Hey!

Photobucket

Youse guys! It's faaaaaallllllllll!!! Yeah man, that Autumn Equinox business went down a week or so ago, and I've been craycray about the season's changing ever since August, so you can only imagine how many scented candles I've bought and pumpkin-flavored things I've failed at baking.
Anyway, it's been a while since my last SL, so this one covers everything from then to yesterday.  P.S. Sorry the quality is a bit disgusting grainy, I was trying a new software and it failed to deliver that high standard you just expect from me (hardeeharhar).
.S.S. I'm officially obsessed with making collages ok.

Watching: DEXTER COMES ON TONIGHT!! I urge you strongly to watch it. What else? Well, pretty much every fall show premiered last week/will premiere soon, so the ones I set my DVR are Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, New Girl, The Mindy Project, Modern Family, The Middle, Elementary, The Big Bang Theory, Copper, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Vampire Diaries. You can bet that I forgot many of them. Yeah I watch a lot of TV ok leave me alone

Reading: a banned book for English. I haven't picked one out yet, but it'll be banned, and it'll be a book. You can count on it.

 Eating: Everything pumpkin-flavored. The end.

Doing: Going to Hastings today to rent all the Freaks & Geeks and a Peter O'Toole movie, then seeing Hotel Translyvania. Tomorrow is ortho then the zoo to see a baby giraffe. Thug life.

Listening: to a lot of Ingrid Michaelson, for whatever reason. And Mumford & Sons of course!! Honestly though, I'm kind of let down with their new album. Obviously it's gorgeous and perfect but it's just so hopeful. I miss the depressed, angry guys! Oh well. I guess you can't be unhappy forever. :)

Buying: Flannel from Target! It's all so nice and fall-y and cute! Also, Ulta recently had 40% off my favorite brands so I stocked up.

Oh, And Also: I won't be doing a "September in Review" kind of deal, but my favorite posts this month are What's in my Jansport Pocket and My Everyday Make-up Routine & Make-up Tips.

 Fall-y Stuff
From left to right: 1) Pumpkin whoopie pies; 2) kitty-carved pumpkin (Pumpkitty? Catkin? Name undecided.); 3) a bunch of cool Halloween stuff at Tarjaaaaay; 4) tried/failed painting sugar-skull style (points for alliteration though)

Photobucket
    Other Stuff
From top to bottom, left to right: 1) Katy Perry movie! (if you preordered on Walmart you got an autograph too. so you already know that's what I did); 2) my Latin class project-- basically we do whatever Greek/Roman-related we want, so I attempted sculpting the Greek Mask of Comedy out of Model Magic. My sculpting skills aren't what they've never been; 3) Ulta stuff; 4) my dream car!! a Volkswagon Cabriolet! except they're all manual and that's just like impossible for me so all I can do is admire from afar; 5) LOOK AT THIS HARAJUKU MINI SWEATER OMG OMG 1920'S GIRLS YOU GUYS; 7) Shipley's Donuts is an apparently-famous little joint we found one day while thrifting far away, yummmmm!; 8) Andy Warhol soup cans, you know how I do; 9) Tim Gunn designs for Barbies you guys.; 10) good shoes make for good times (quote me ok)

  What've you been up to?

Stuff Lately // 8.26.12

 Hello!

N'SYNC dolls at the thrift store. I wanted Justin but if I bought one I couldn't just not buy the rest.

If you've been a regular reader during the summer months, you'll notice I've seriously slowed down posting since that easy livin', warm weathern' time. This is just due to lack of time. So no worries, I'll still be posting a lot, just not everyday. I mean, where else will I post my sweater and pumpkin-scented candle emotions this fall? Like, duh.
Anyway, here's some stuff that I've been into/doing since those lost days of summer.

Watching: I just watched last week's Copper on BBC America; not too bad so far. Finally watched Midnight in Paris last night!! Serious wanderlust. :( Oh, and Perks of Being a Wallflower and Hotel Transylvania look like the best movies of the season, caaaaannn't waaaaait!! They're out in September.

Reading: Troy by Adele Geras; Masquerade by Walter Satterthwait (I just found out it's a freaking sequel, but I already started reading it, so.)

Eating: IHOP has Red Velvet Pancakes now. You can bet your buttons I went as soon as I found out.

Doing: Taking care of Walton. Remember? My baby cactus has been losing its baby leaves (what are they called?), so I've been watching him very carefully. Also: thrifting!! First few times since December; it's good to be back! haha. Oh, and I've set up a mini art wall above my TV!! I'll post print/picture details in an upcoming post (full of Etsy art I wish I had. holla.)

Listening: "First Day of My Life' by Bright Eyes is freaking fire. And 'Skinny Love" by Bon Iver, man. Oh, and "100 Years" by Five for Fighting may not be the newest song ever but I've just started listening to it obsessively and it makes my heart hurt.

Buying: This exact scarf from Target (omg it's called menswear inspired why do I always love boy things omg). It's so cute and I found all these new (to me) ways to wear it! Yaay!! Oh, also: Booties! I finally picked up a precious pair of booties at this store A'gaci (if you look it up, note: I don't usually shop there, but it was by F21 so I figured I'd run in and see if they had any cute booties. I feel like I'm saying booties a lot. Booties.) Now I'm all set for fall!

 Pancakes, Walton, Booties, Art wall.
Ignore that Cheer bear okay it's from the glory days 1st grade.

What've you been up to lately??

Stellar Stuff Saturday (+ Introduction)

Hello!

A lot of the blogs I read do a post called "Friday Favorites", or a variation of it. It's when they post their favorite things they've seen around the Internet that week, and I always love reading what they've found. So, instead of Friday Favorites, I'm introducing Stellar Stuff Saturday as a new feature! Yaaaay! I won't make any promises on how often I'll do it (probably every Saturday, you know...), but each time I do do it, it'll have all the cool stuff (from pictures to quotes to places to clothes and back again) I've seen on the World Wide Web this week. It may also have little updates at the bottom on what I've been doing. Basically it's like the wrap-up of my week, I guess. Anyhoo, let's get the ball rolling...

 /// Other Stuff & Stuff Lately ///

☛ Did you know that there really is a difference between Mexican Coke and American Coke? Yup: Mexican Coke is made with real sugar, I found out. I recently tried it but didn't taste a difference (I don't usually drink Coke [without cherry!] anyway), then my mom tried it and said it tasted like the kind she drank as a kid! Nutty stuff.

☛ I don't have a Pinterest account (I'm a Tumblr girl myself), but if I did, I'd be all over this board. I've been so obsessed with mint green lately!

☛ OMG these nails! I'm about to be all up in my mom's hydrangeas.

☛ YOU GUYS. Target's next collab is with freaking Neiman Marcus. OH SNAP.

☛ I'm finally off the waitlist for Birchbox! W00t. I'm just trying it once for lots of reasons jk I just don't have any money so I hope this one includes some Zoya nail polish!

☛ I've been watching a ton of old movies on Netflix Instant lately. It might have to do with a genuine interest in the art, or perhaps a genuine interest in not reading my Driver's Ed manual. Maybe both. Whatever the case, this old Hitchcock movie looks lame but is actually pretty great. (You can find it on Instant under the name, "Young and Innocent")

What are some of your favorite things this week?
